Royal Medical Center Ltd (“Mpingwe” or the “Clinic”) of P/Bag 476, Chichiri, Blantyre 3, Malawi is a private limited liability company incorporated under the Companies Act and licensed under the Medical Council of Malawi Act to operate as a hospital.

The Clinic provides radiology services (X-rays and Ultrasounds scans), Endoscopy, General Surgery, Maternity & Gynaecology (including assisted fertilization) and Physiotherapy.

Royal Medical Center COVID-19 CENTRE

As a reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinic established an isolation centre in Angelo Govea to manage COVID-19 patients

GENERAL SURGERY

We have one operating theatre with adequate numbers of trained and experienced theatre nurses and support staff. The theatre is well equipped with special precautions for infection control always adhered to. There are two operating rooms. One Orthopaedic and the later general. We perform surgeries on any part of the body. This includes bowel surgery, urology and
neck surgery just to mention a few. In addition, we also perform caesarian sections and gynaecological surgery.

Our pharmacy is approved by the Pharmacy Medicines and Poison Board of Malawi. It is open 24/7.

Patient Department
PATIENT DEPARTMENT

The department provides 24/7 medical care at the convenience of the patient in a professional, caring and responsive manner. It has a team of a Doctor/Clinical Officer, nurses and administrative staff. Patients may be seen as self-referral or as referred by general practitioner or other specialists. From outpatient department patients are either treated as out patients or admitted to wards.

Wards

This ward is a 2 bed ward dedicated to maternity services. It is equipped to monitor fetal well-being and it attends to antenatal, labor and delivery of patients, it has I delivery labor room. The ward is built in a way which ensures privacy and dignity to all mothers. It is supervised by qualified and experienced nurses who work side by side with a female Gynecologist/Obstetricians to ensure necessary medical care. Our nurse to patient ratio in this ward is 1:1.

The ward houses surgery. It has 2 beds which do accommodate 2 patients per day. The surgery department is headed by the Surgeon Dr Kalongolera, who oversees a team of highly qualified and experienced nurse, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 as well.
